Patent Pending - the album and song

Heavens was an independent rock band featuring Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio and Josiah Steinbrick. The duo released their debut album, Patent Pending, on September 11/12, 2006 at Epitaph Records. The album comprises as well a track named "Patent Pending".

Patent Pending was Heavens' only album, so that at least the aspect of novelty is given :-)

The album comprises heart rending ballads of loss, and the song's lyrics connect our favorite IP term to an infamous French device which in 2006 certainly wasn't patentable any longer:
