Golden Earring was a Dutch rock band founded in 1961 and ultimately dissolved in 2021, thus after 60 consecutive years of playing being one of the longest-standing bands in rock history.
In 1969, they released their song Time is a book.
In this song they wish to be able to travel back in time to invent new and useful things, which per se is an interesting (but also back in 1969 not novel) concept. Be that as it may, I do like and appreciate their attitude to specifically avoid inventing guns or bombs:
If I could go back a hundred years or more [...] I'd become an inventor to discover new things I'd find out flying with my own wings I'd find out light and the electric train And I'd find out how to make it rain [...] But I'd never find out a gun or a bomb
What a pity they had to dissolve after such a long time following serious illness of guitarist and founding member George Kooymans.
As a side note, another 'dinosaur' rock band, the Stones, were founded only in 1962, thus celebrating 60 years of band history in 2022.
